Hi, I’ve used this plugin on my site at https://www.nezfit.com.au for about 6 months and everything has been working fine.

Today, I went into the website to do regular maintenance, but my browser blocked me as “insecure site” – even though WP Encryption said the certificate was valid until September.

So I generated a fresh one, and installed that. The certificate generates OK, and installs OK. I checked within cPanel at SSL/TLS and the green locks were correctly showing at both nezfit.com.au and https://www.nezfit.com.au.

Then, about an hour later I wanted to do some more work on the site, but I got another error message from Chrome telling me the site is insecure.

I went back into cPanel and the green locks were NOT showing on nezfit.com.au nor https://www.nezfit.com.au anymore. They were definitely green before, but now they’re red, and all the other things in there that were red are now showing as green instead – cpanel.nezfit.com.au, cpcalendars.nezfit.com.au, cpcontacts.nezfit.com.au, ipv6.nezfit.com.au, mail.nezfit.com, mail.nezfit.com.au, etc.

What’s going on, why does it swap the green for the red, and what can I do to stop this happening again?

@tractorgirl Your cPanel seems to be auto installing a different SSL Certificate maybe using AutoSSL. So even if you manually upload and install SSL certificate, it is getting overwritten by the one generated by cPanel.

Please contact your hosting support once to stop AutoSSL or append your www & non-www domain to the list of supported domains.

Thanks for that, I have been in contact with our hosting, and they have said they will “provide you a copy of the CSR file and Server Software which you can provide to your SSL Provider where it is hosted”.

CSR is not required. Please use RESET option once, run the SSL install form of WP Encryption, it will auto generate SSL certificate which you can install directly on your cPanel via SSL/TLS option.

    Thank you for that.

I’m still waiting for my hosting to get back to me.

So as you suggested, I tried the RESET option and ran the SSL install form of WP Encryption, and installed it directly via cPanel.

Again, it worked fine for and hour or two – but THEN reverted as before – another error message from Chrome telling me the site is insecure.

Same as before, I went back into cPanel and the green locks were NOT showing on https://nezfit.com.au nor?https://www.nezfit.com.au?anymore.

I’ll try contacting my hosting again to see if there has been any progress their end.

So, despite me telling them that you said there was no need for a CSR, that’s exactly what they sent me.

And they’re saying “You may now provide this to where you have purchased the SSL certificate, once it has been generated, kindly send us the zip file of the certificate so that we can install it for you.”

    What do I do?

Please go to SSL / TLS option on your cPanel, Delete any / all existing SSL certificate installed for your domain. Then follow the same process again i.e., “I tried the RESET option and ran the SSL install form of WP Encryption, and installed it directly via cPanel.”

After installing the SSL manually, if its getting overwritten by a different SSL certificate after few hours, then AutoSSL or other feature on your hosting platform is absolutely forcing different SSL. Only your host could answer why the installed SSL certificate is getting reverted back?.

Thanks for all your help. The host has been quite unhelpful and a bit evasive about what’s going on, so we’re dumping them for a better hosting company.

Thanks again, your plugin works fine.
