    Hi,

If I want to push a staging site to my live site, but NOT to change any of my tablepress tables already in the live site, which files should I exclude from the push, please?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

TablePress tables are stored in the database and not in any files. But your “staging to live push” probably also moves the database over?

I’m not sure what exactly I can recommend here, as this all depends on that system works. Your best chance probably is to create backups of all tables (of both sites) by exporting them to the JSON format (e.g. in a ZIP archive) on the TablePress Export screen. That way, you could always restore any replaced/modified tables again.

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Yes, it would move the database. It sounds more complicated than I’d hoped, so it might simply be easier to ensure that whenever I update tables on the live site, I always update those same tables on any staging site, too.
    Thanks again,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,

yes, you should always check if the data is the same, for consistency. And creating backups before doing any migrations is always the best approach.

    Regards,
    Tobias
