• Hello,
I’m looking for an alternative to WordPress Plugin WP GPX MAPS, which engaged the support.
The plugin WP GPX MAPS worked also standalone. That’s exactly what I need. In addition, it has a mouse active Altitude Chart for GPX routes.
However, it has some disadvantages. The Altitude charts is generated by a third-party company. As far as I have understood correctly. It would be better, the Altitude data were taken from the GPX file. My GPX files have the Altitude (<ele>). In addition, it would be perfect if the Altitude chart would be generated without third-party company, and with mouse active.
The SMRT (Altitude Data) offered by United States Geological Survey USGS:
https://dds.cr.usgs.gov/srtm/version2_1/SRTM3/ . Or similiar NASA Data.
Maybe you can make a fusion with the WP GPX MAPS.

Many GPX Maps seller using Altitude Charts. You only have all the same disadvantage that the GPX files must be uploaded to your external server. Another limitation is the only non-commercial use. Affiliate is not evil. Affiliate is voluntary, in particular with Adblock. Affiliate allows donations!

I have a few questions about the plugin here. Does it work complete without Google? Or GPX routes in the background are always created with Google?

I would be very happy if I could use your plug-in a very short time as a standalone and with mouse active Altitude Chart without a only non-commercial license and third-party solution.

    Hi sunima,

thanks for your feedback with the details! I will try to cover all:

a.) This year it is not planned for WP OSM Plugin to be an alternative for WP GPX Maps.
b.) In WP OSM Plugin there is a GPX support to show tracks and markers in the map, you do not have to load your data on any external server but on your own host! Find a sample here https://wp-osm-plugin.hanblog.net/examples/display-gpx-file/
c.) In WP OSM Plulgin your data is not loaded anywhere (eg google) except your own server and of course to the clients machine (browser).
d.) With WP OSM Plugin there is no “non-commercial” license. Feel free to make money with your site using the WP OSM plugin as it is!

    Hello photoweblog,
    “Non-commercial” license is very good.
Support for GPX routes I have seen.
Excluding data request of any third party, except OSM, is also good.

What I need are two things.

    1. Standalone function.
In WP GPX MAPS dissolved with a PHP file, which can be edited.
    https://devfarm.it/forums/topic/sample-wrapper/
That’s what I really need. I do not have WordPress and need the plugin standalone.

    2. Elevation Profile.
Have you realized your plugin with Leaflet?
Leaflet provides a way for interactive elevation profile:
“A leaflet plugin to view interactive height profiles of GeoJSON lines using d3.”
    https://leafletjs.com/plugins.html#time–elevation

I have no knowledge of programming and am dependent on solutions.

    Hello sunima,

the WP OSM Plugin is realized with OpenLayers and under GPL license. So you can use it for free in a commercial and non commercial way and you can even hand it over to someone and extend it for you with all your requirements. Since it is open source it will be quite easy to find a freelancer who will extend it to your needs.
The two features you are talking about are not in the backlog for 2015 – sorry. We have limited resources and this year we are working on OL 3 to make WP OSM Plugin work on all the mobile devices ….

    Hello –

Is there an option in this plugin to show a ‘current location’ GPS marker on a map??

    Thanks

    Hello Stephan,

since this is not related to GPX I suggest to creat a new topic for your question or even post it at WP OSM Plugin Forum. And can you explain more in details what you mean by “current location”?

    Hi photoweblog
Don’t you have any answer for my question?
