Hi, I love this plugin but I can’t seem to get the stars to show up on google results. I have used the structured data testing tool which flags up an error and a couple of warnings but I have no idea how to rectify them to get this working in google.

    Please help ??

When you use Google’s Structured Data Testing Tool:

    1. The Errors tell you which fields are missing that are required by the schema type. If you have errors, it means that until you fix them the schema is invalid and will not be used.

    2. The Warnings generally alert you to fields that missing and are recommended, but not required.

In the image above you can see that the error is happening because the schema image value is empty.

Site Reviews provides options for all required fields of the LocalBusiness and Product schema types. For the image, you can either use the featured image of the page (the default option), or if your pages do not all use a featured image, you can enter a custom image URL:

You can also add a custom image URL to a specific page by adding a “schema_image” value using WordPress’s “Custom Fields” metabox:

Wow, thanks for your speedy reply, great support!

I would just like to use the default image, which is selected, but why is it only on this post that is affected and is there a fix?

As I explained, the default option uses the Featured Image of your pages.

If one of your pages DOES NOT have a Featured Image set, then the schema on that page will have a missing image field in the schema.

You can either use a custom image URL in the settings which will apply for ALL pages, or you can add a Custom Field on the pages that do not have a Featured Image (as shown in the image on the previous reply).

I still don’t get any reviews showing, I think I’ve rectified the errors as nothing shows but it is showing two instances, an organisation and a local business, could this be the problem? Or is because I have two warnings? I just can’t figure out why the reviews aren’t showing :/

Using structured data enables a feature to be present, it does not guarantee that it will be present. The Google algorithm tailors search results to create what it thinks is the best search experience for a user, depending on many variables, including search history, location, and device type.

Here are some common reasons why your structured data is not showing

    • The marked-up structured data is not representative of the main content of the page or potentially misleading.
    • Marked-up data is incorrect in a way that the Testing tool was not able to catch.
    • Marked-up content is hidden from the user.
    • You’re marking up your page using two formats, microdata and JSON-LD. You should choose one format in our case the JSON-LD format.
    • The site has very few pages (or very few pages with marked-up structured data) and may not be picked up by Google’s Structured Data system.
    • Not enough time has passed (4-12 weeks seems to be the common time quoted)
    • Google have decided not to show the data.

Doing a google search for your site shows the rating markup for the reviews page, (although it does seem to be a couple of weeks old). Google will periodically re-crawl your website and when it does, the rating values will update in the search results.

You can compare this to a search result returning a facebook page:

Please note that Site Reviews is not intended to be a complete schema solution for your website, you will likely get much better overall results in Google for your website if you implement a schema plugin that adds more complete overall information about your website.
