Start Quiz Text to include Quiz Name

  • Howdy, I noticed the general settings had a token for inserting the quiz name ‘%quiz%’ which works beautifully for the share text. But it seems it was not programmed for the start quiz text field:

    HD Quiz > Settings > Translations > Rename “QUIZ START” text

    Start %quiz% quiz

    Start Geography quiz, Start Geometry quiz, and start History quiz. This would be a lot more enticing for engaging audiences to click the quiz as it informs them on what they are interacting with. Especially when there are multiple quizzes on the same page with different subjects or variations. I also tried %name%.

    I’m very impressed with the functionality of HD quiz and am thankful for the work you’ve put into this great plugin.

    Hi Josh,
    I think that this is an interesting idea, so I’ll add it to the todo list for the next version. Since it would be such a niche feature, I doubt that I will advertise it on the Translate tab itself, but it will be added to the next minor release

    I see Version 2.0.2 came out which the changelog states:
    Quiz name variable as part of Start Quiz button

    I went to: Translations > Rename “QUIZ START” text
    Then added the following: Start %name% quiz

    This displayed as: Start %name% quiz (instead of “Start North America Countries quiz”)
    So then I tried the following 4 variations (separately one at a time) which all just showed their token:
    %quiz%, %quiz %name%, %name

    I tried applying the shortcode to another post in hopes it would read differently. Am I doing something wrong? I am very excited about this new text feature and feel like I’m one step away from finding it. ??

    Hi Josh,
    YOU did nothing wrong. I did.

    Even though I included “Quiz name variable as part of Start Quiz button” in the changelogs, I never actually uploaded the patch :S

    I’ll respond here once I have time to patch this in so that you can reinstall the plugin fresh to get the update. I don’t want to push out a versioned update just for this because then everyone will need to update.

    You can reinstall HD Quiz to get the change. As with the Share text, %quiz% is the variable name for Quiz Name
