Start slideshow when visible after scroll

I have a js function which can provide a trigger when a screen element is visible. The idea is to start a FlexSlider slideshow automatically when the user scrolls down the page to a point where the slideshow is visible on screen.

I can see there are various options to start, pause and unpause the slideshow but I’m not sure which is best to use.

Can you advise please.
