starting from scratch with backup files only

    I have a two fold question – I have a client who took it upon themselves to switch hosts, let the old one run out and never told me that they switched hosts so now the website is gone (i guess they thought a magic fairy would just make everything work out lol) anyhow so now I have the updraft backups and i just want to verify before i give them an answer that on their new host starting from scratch that i can restore their old website with an older version of wordpress onto their new server using the backup files from updraft only?
    If so then do i need to install an older version of wordpress to match the backup onto the new server or no need and do you have a paid tool that will make this a breeze for me because i despise restorations and migrating lol – thanks

    Yes, as long as the URL of the site at the time they’re restoring is the same as the URL of the site the backup was taken on. (Otherwise, to modify the backup set to move to a new URL, the paid verison of UD is needed).

    Yes, it’s best to install the old version of WP – otherwise, you’re restoring and updating at the same time, and if something goes wrong, it’s hard to know which one was the problem.
