Like a few others here, I’m using Startlogic to host my domain/blog (https://euphonioustumult.net). I finally got off my butt and switched over to the new platform and after having a bin issue – which was resolved – I am left with a major problem. My wp-config information is no longer valid. I hadn’t changed a thing. I’ve tried everything I could think of but I must be missing something. So, you other Startlogic folks… have you had problems with this since the platform change? If so, how did you fix it?

  • Did you confirm what the new DB_HOST value is? Is it ‘localhost’? Might ask startlogic if necessary.

I’ve been on perma-hold for well over an hour now with the bozos at Startlogic. I don’t know if I’ll ever get through. >.< Maybe I’ll just have to wait until three in the morning and only wait twenty minutes. At this point I could use any help I can get involving Startlogic. This makes me sooo happy my business’ site doesn’t use databases or I’d just be crying.

It figures that they finally take me as I give up. Well, for anyone who may need it… the DB_HOST value for startlogic users that have transfered to VDeck 3.0 has changed to the following: yourlogin.startlogicmysql.com instead of localhost

I feel silly now but oh well. Maybe this will help some one else.

This thread needs to be added to the FAQ. I too had problems with Startlogic and installing WP 2.5* on the new vDeck 3.0 hosting platform. This solution works. The way I found out was by first installing WP using SL’s installer and looked at the config file it created and the DB_HOST was accountlogin.startlogicmysql.com instead of localhost. In order to install WP on any SL account you need to make sure you make this change to the config file. Again, someone should add this to the FAQ because I’m sure more people will have this problem. It’s listed no where on the SL knowledge base.

After pounding my head against my desk for a couple of days now I must say- THANK YOU! Changing the DB_HOST value to accountlogin.startlogicmysql.com did the trick! This is yet another undocumented change from Start-logic. Man do I hate them.

I plan on moving all of my sites to another host soon. I was thinking of going with either Media Temple, Laughing Squid or Dream Host. Any good suggestions?

    Thanks again!

    John
