Did I set up WP.com stats right?

  • Hi,

    I just installed WP.com Stats on my blog but I don’t know if I did it right. I installed the latest WordPress release on my host’s server, so I didn’t have an API key to input. I made a screen name on wordpress.com to get one and then put that API key into WP.com Stats and linked it to the blog.

    Did I do the right thing to set up the plugin to track my self-hosted blog or will it report the stats for my .com account which doesn’t have a blog?

    Also, it says that I need to login with my wordpress.com account for my visits to not be counted, whereas I use a different screen name for my self-hosted blog. Do I need to create another username/password that matches what I set up on .com?
