The search function is documented here:
    https://www.charlestonsw.com/support/documentation/store-locator-plus/how-slp-search-works/

You can fake it using Pro Pack tags or the tagalong categories system. Both are add-on packs. You can find them here:

For true discrete searches it will require notable modification. 3-4 days of coding time, 2-3 weeks to deliver. Customization fees are listed on the site:

Version 0.2 of Tagalong provides an interface on the Manage Locations admin page that allows you to assign categories to multiple locations at one time. Do you have a screen grab of this feature? Also just to confirm, I think what you are suggesting is to use this to create a category for each state and then assign the locations to a specific state. However I don’t see any info on the Tagalong page regarding how you search for a tag. Does it add a drop down to the search like tags do or does it just change the output on the map but is not a searchable item? I have the Pro Pack so I assume I could do the same thing with tags, and in that case I know I can create a drop down on the search page.

You can do the same thing with Pro Pack with the tags feature & using the pulldown menu. Not a great solution, but that is where the plugin is at right now.
