Static front page

  • My blog posts on https://smbresearch.net have “disappeared”, due to an apparent conflict with a new static front page. How do I resolve this conflict to get my blog posts t reappear. Is the conflict back somewhere in my hostgator files?

    I have created a new, static, front page called “Home”, and followed the procedures for deploying this and “re-directing” the blog posts elsewhere.

    Prior to this, my blog posts had been listed in the menu as a custom page called “Home:Home”, with address https://smbresearch.net.

    How do I resolve this conflict and “re-direct” my blog posts to the new page called “Blog”?

  • Delete the page called ‘Home’ and then also remove it from trash (you can grab the HTML code for next step):

    Home is not to be used a page name. <===period

    Create a page name other than one with a title or slug of ‘Home’…

    Then, make that your front page and reply with results.

    That’s what I’d do. Don’t forget to comment back to tell us if it did worked.

    SwansonPhotos, rafa1, OK, I have done the steps above. Problem remains. If you go to https://www.smbresearch.net, and click on the <blog> tab, the website cannot seem to find index.php and load this page. I have dozens of blog posts, which are somewhere, but not where my website expects to find them.

    Prior to putting a static front page up, the blog posts were loaded into the root, smbresearch.net.

    I am having a similar issue, I am trying to completely redo my website and I previously had the blog page as the landing page. I have changed my front page from the blog page to a static page in the reading settings, however the features of my front page have remained on my blog page as opposed to the static front page.

    Perhaps you have yet to go to
    ->settings
    ->reading
    and then assign the Posts to the new page.

    Yes, I reassigned posts to the page called “Blog”. The website somehow does not recognize the smbreseach.net/blog path, and is not mapping or loading Index.php to smbreseach.net/blog.

    OK,I have solved part of the puzzle. I had a hard Redirect on my hosting site, which I created a longt time ago and forgot about. New ISSUE: you can now get to https://smbresearch.net/blog, but in creating a static page, I seem to have lost all CSS for my blog site. How do I restore this? Take a look at https://smbresearch.net.
