    Thanks Riccardo,

I read through the post and I’m not sure making a custom page template would work. All my other pages (about, services, etc) include a side bar. But when I go to customize and select ‘Home’ to be my static page, then the sidebar disappears, but only for this page. All my pages have the same template selected (Default). I did go to the editor and I can see that I have a content-page.php and a front-page.php. I’m assuming that when I select to have a static home page and I select home, it overrides the selected template and makes it fullwidth. I’ve tried to make changes to the front-page.php file but can only manage to get the sidebar at the bottom, not on the side.

    Any ideas?

    Hey Manuita,

no problem, I’m checking your website now, did you finally manage to get it working?

    Cheers,
    Riccardo

The simplest method here is to just delete/rename front-page.php file from sparkling folder and you are ready to go. WordPress will then use page.php for front page and sidebar will be visible. Of course widgets that were created for front page won’t work but the sidebar will be there for sure.
