Static front page bug? Version 3.81

Essentially, wordpress point-blank refuses to save the settings for static front page. I just want a custom page “home-2” to serve as front page on the blog instead of the regular home page. When I try to change the front page/blog page settings however, i click save and it does not save the settings. This is incredibly annoying and from what I’ve read it has been noted as a bug. Are there any workarounds people can suggest? I.e. is there a way to edit these settings manually? A plugin perhaps?
