    Dear all,

I have a question that perhaps is a bit obvious. If so, sorry about that, I’m new to this all.

I would like to make my landinspage the first page that appears of the website. Now I have read that I should make it the static homepage. I have done that but it messes up with the rest of the site. Should I change the name of the actual homepage (I presume it interferes with the landingspage)? In case of affirmative, any good other name for it as it appears in the menu?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Rename ‘page.php’ to ‘front-page.php’ in your themes files then create a new page in the admin area name it what you will and fix that as the static front page in ‘settings’ in admin.

Thanks Formica for the swift reply! I’ll give it a try.

No! No! No!. If you have changed that file name, change it back. it needed for your other static Pages. See creating a static front page

Anyhow I have another problem…how do I remove “Home” from the navigation tab….

Perhaps I should explain better my issue.
I have a homepage which is now on the navigation tab. As I would like to have my landingspage as static homepage I presume I will have to rename my actual homepage to avoid conflicts. Also I do not want that the landingspage to appear on the navigation tab. Is this possible?

I renamed the homepage to main, but it didn’t ′t help anything.
If you check my website which is com8.eu/products/ you will see that the ladingspage (dialogic) is at the beginning. Does anyone know how can I remove this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I went to header_action.php, excluded the page ID, nonetheless it still does appear. Is this because the page is the static home page?

Turn-off dashboard, settings, reading open with a static page and the opening page will be com8.eu

Thanks for your swift reply kmessinger! Perhaps I′m not very clear. The idea is that the landingspage (dialogic) would be the openingspage. If you would click on it you would go on to the normal website. This part is working more or less fine, nonetheless the landingspage appears on the navigation page and I do not want that.

I know, I know…searching is my middlename since I started with WordPress. ??
Actually I did all this what is mentioned in the article, but no results. I made my landingspage with a plugin…could that be the problem?

I don’t know. Contact form 7 is used by a lot of people.

The page, https://www.com8.eu/?maxinbound_landing=dialogicfirst looks okay but how do they get from this page to home?

You built the theme. The backend (dashboard) should have menu’s options where you can exclude or include other pages.

Thanks a lot for helping me sort this out. I′m really sorry for bothering you so much.
I tried now a different way. I removed the plugin and build a landingspage from zero. The new template I made disappears however when I make the landingspage the static page. What is happening here?
The idea is, if you click on the logo or link in the footer you should get to the main page.

You should go back to the basics in the link esmi posted for you.

If you want the site to open with this url, https://www.com8.eu/landing/dialogicfirst/ then that should be selected in settings/general/reading

The static page would normally be created in dashboard Pages, Add New Page. Is this where you built your static page? Your link from the logo (there is no link on the footer but can be added should go to the site url which is where the blog/news page is normally. I think you made a Page for that called over which is not correct or needed.

This is a very basic concept in WordPress. Once you build a Page, you can use it as (it is not called a landing page) as your front page display – a static page. You can have links there going to other WordPress pages like you built here, https://www.com8.eu/support/downloads/ You don’t need to rename or change anything. WordPress will do that for you.

You can build your form with the plugin. Then create a Page, called Dialogic.

Then open the settings page for Contact Form 7, and then open the contact form you want to add. Each contact form has its own tag (shortcode), such as [contact-form-7 id=”1234″ title=”Contact form 1″]. Copy the shortcode and paste it into the page content along with the rest of the page information. You don’t have to use a template if none are available or right, use html and paste the code into the Page.
