Hi, I would like to use a static index.html for the home page of my website example.com. I would also like to have WordPress display directories and pages in a browser’s address bar as if it was installed in the web root directory.

I understand how to create WordPress in a subdirectory yet have it display pages that appear to be in the root. However, when I attempt to use it with my static index.html it doesn’t work.

I would also like to use pretty permalinks.

How can I make what I am looking for?

Please disregard my question. I found that simply activating the pretty permalinks caused it to work.

As a note as well, you don’t need a static index.html page to do this. You can create a new file in your theme (well, in a child theme to keep things safe) called front-page.php and that file will be used as te template for your home page. This lets you include any of the standard WordPress things like menus, header, footer, etc, but you can also leave any or all of those out, and have whatever other content that you want on it as well as having it still be accessible through the WordPress admin area.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, my index page is rewritten every 15 minutes by another system, and I have to keep it that way, separate from the WordPress system.
