• I’m using the 2011 theme and want only static pages and I’m using a Mac, and when I go to settings and then readings I don’t get an option to use a static page or a blog page and my home file page doesn’t work. Is it me? The theme? Corrupted links?

I am so confused. Any body have any ideas? If I reload the theme will it make my content go away? If I change themes will the content go away?

Is there another way? The settings > readings page that I see doesn’t have an option for a static or post front page. I have a second site that has the same problem. Is there a Dashboard setting I need to change?

That theme should have the options.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). Don’t forget the ones in mu-plugins. If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    It worked!

Between the two of you I got it!

The option for a static page didn’t show up until I published the front page and them it appeared.

I appreciate your assistance, thank you,

Glad it worked for you. Publishing a page before asking WordPress to designate it as special is generally a good idea ??
