static password to allow users to advance within the page

  • Good Day,

    This is my first post, and I am a first-timer to WP and coding in general..

    I am building a webpage that requires users to enter a static/standard password(this password is provided to users via email contact list)
    before they move into the next page that accepts user registration..

    I know this sounds a bit backwards.. but id appreciate any help this community may have to offer.

  • I think this is what you want. It’s a plug-in for only allowing invited users to sign up.

    It also allows sign-up using special invite e-mail or special passwords.

    That plug in is a bit more than i needed.
    The site i am building is just to promo my demo-reel for
    perspective employees/freelance opportunities.

    on my business cards I am printing a ‘password’ line
    so that only the people who have the business card can navigate past the front page, which has the password lock on it.

    the next page is where they register name, company & email
    using the WP Customer User Registration Lite plug-in,
    and after registration they are allowed to the third page which holds
    my reel and art work…

    like i said its more gitchy than web-elaborate..

    Thanks for your input Patrick. Im sure when I have more of my site developed ill need this Secure Invites functionality.

    Why?

    If the password is just for people with your card, why do you care if they have it or not? You’re making it harder for people to stumble upon your business. If anything, I’d edit WP Customer User Registration Lite plug-in to have a field for the password. If you really think you need it.
