I recently deleted a bunch of untrafficked pages from my blog. Since doing so, I have had a page showing up in my stats that links directly to my homepage when clicked. This phantom page (#12692) does not show up on any monthly stat pages prior to February 2022, and if it was in fact from a page I deleted last week, the volume amount is strange because I did not delete any pages that had had recent traffic.

I’ve cleared all the dead links that WordPress finds from stuff that was deleted, and I’ve followed some of the other steps in the forum, like doing a full data sync on my end and it still shows up (and continues to get hits today). Is there any way to find out what page JetPack thinks is being accessed to return this page number? If it was a page that was getting one or two views, I wouldn’t care, but it is among the highest trafficked pages at the moment and I’m just wondering if it is some kind of error.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there, @reberhard1,

That’s quite an odd issue, I’m sorry you’re experiencing that.

I checked your stats and I noticed that when looking at the Posts & pages Stats for All Time there are also similar pages like the one you mentioned – for example, #4071, #7086 and so on – all having high number stats.

Did you recall if you have transferred, migrated or imported your site at some point in the past? I suspect this could be something related to some permalinks changes going wrong.

Does it ring any bell to you? Your host might help shed some light in that regard.

Let me know what you find out!

There are a lot of legacy pages that I deleted, including some with very high view counts. They weren’t timely (about soccer matches from nearly three years ago) and weren’t driving traffic to the site anymore.

The new #12692 showed up in February – had no views prior to this month – so I’m scratching my head trying to figure out what it might be. I’ll reach out to our host should it keep showing up (had another 120 views last week apparently), but in the meantime it’s more of an annoyance than anything operational with the site.

    Thanks for your response!
