In order to speed up the site delivery, I installed WP-Optimize, which caches pages. Since that installation, the WP-Statistics plugin has recorded ZERO data for all activity.

Google Analytics continues to capture visits, etc — but this plugin is capturing none.
In Settings, Cache Compatibility Mode is CHECKED

Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

    Hello,

Thank you for opening the thread. As I can see from your website’s Network → XHR section, the response of the request to /wp-json/wp-statistics/v2/hit is “The REST API has been restricted to authenticated users.”

It appears that you are using a plugin that has disabled the WP REST API for non-logged-in users. Please disable this restriction or add this endpoint to the whitelist.

Alternatively, you can enable the “Bypass Ad Blockers” option in Settings → Basic Tracking. This method uses the admin-ajax.php endpoint instead of wp-json for tracking.

    Thank you!

Turns out, it was not the WP-Optimize that caused the problem, but Admin and Site Enhancements (ASE) which turns the REST API off “for security”. I thought that had been running prior and only the Optimize plugin was new – but it seems that one of the other admins may have changed the setting. I appreciate the quick response!

We probably need to add a notice in the admin panel to inform all administrators that the endpoint is restricted and needs to be fixed.

    Thanks!
