Anyone else seeing way higher stats than they should be today? Late last night, and today so far, we have about 400% more pageviews than Google Analytics shows, and 95% are to our homepage.

Anything wonky with the plugin today?

What’s the URL of the site with the problem?

So far, your stats from us today seem to be pretty inline with your past trends.

The only difference is you are getting a more views per visitor today, but I don’t see anything specifically out of the ordinary.

This might just be a temporary spike that goes away tomorrow.

It could also be a bot that we haven’t blocked yet, but Google Analytics has.

We’ll do some deeper digging, but I suspect things will be ok going forward.

Spiked again today. WP is sitting 11,000 over Google Analytics.

Typically they’re within 1,000 of each other – higher on crazy view days.

Just found it odd this started happening after I updated to latest WP Version.

Hi @elrebrin, I tried to check on this, and I’m currently getting connection errors for our connection: HTTP status code was not 200 (403). Can you confirm with your host that they’re not blocking us from xml-rpc?

I’m guessing that’s a separate issue, but while we’re digging into the stats problem, if you can sort that out, that would be great.

You can see the error here and share the results with your host: https://jetpack.com/support/debug/

    Hey @supernovia

I believe XML-RPC is something we typically block after we get/got JetPack connected, for security reasons. It’s never been an issue in the past to do it that way, unless something has changed?

If you have IPs I can whitelist, I may be able to add them to our WAF.

Sure, you can find a list of IP addresses here:

About the site: do you happen to use galleries on any pages that have been popular recently? If so, could you send a link?

    Thread Starter elrebrin

    (@elrebrin)

    Excellent, will whitelist those now!

As for galleries, we rarely use them and none have been used in the past days/weeks.

Okay. It does seem Jetpack stats count views for attachment pages (as one would typically see in a carousel on a gallery). So if there’s any chance that could be a factor, let us know. Also, let us know once you’ve got things whitelisted so we can debug your Jetpack. Thanks!

Hmm, odd. All the galleries *should* link to actual image rather than page, but who knows. Attachment pages should be tracked in Google Analytics & our Ad vendor’s system, too though :/

    Should be whitelisted now!

    We’re still seeing a 403 error here:
