    Looks like there is some error blocking it from installing. This white screen is often referred to as a WSOD, or white screen of death. There are a lot of things you can do to fix it, in this case since its a new install I would recommend starting over. Your host, depending on who they are might have an automatic installer you can use. Hosts like bluehost do that.

    Right, I may have come a step further; visited the cpanel provided and went to apps installer and chose WordPress. Than answered a few questions as best I could, and hit install. Got confirmation that the install was successful.
    I then tried to get in to my website again, but again got a sodded WSOD. I think I may be getting lost in the database details… I don’t see the hierarchy in my mind; it seems like my parameters are overpowering each other. What is the logic chain of events??

    Kind regards,

    …to wee if all is done properly… That must’ve brought a LOL on!! I’ll make sure I do then, when all is properly done, so that’s another incitement…!

    It also looks like you are installing it into a sub folder called “website”. Make sure the path is correct, its possible the streams might be crossing somewhere. Most of these errors that cause a white screen can be seen in a file in your website folders called “error_log” and that will tell you exactly what the problem is. If you continue to have issues, I recommend contacting your host.

    Ok, I got help from Webhosting UK. It turns out that I didn’t need anything installed on my local computer at all(!)

    This is the main reason for my confusion; I have read and asked questions, and all I get is that I have to install database and WordPress onto my own computer…

    It is now my understanding that all is done via the hosting firm; creating, administrating and updating the website is all done via internet.

    If this is correct, I really think the wordpress documentation should be updated to that effect.

    @jagman – So all is well?

    Talk about inconspicuous post… Didn’t see it…

    No, all is not well; My hosting provider has been involved for days because I couldn’t seem to get passed the wp-admin only showing info about the new version, whilst in the lower right corner proclaimed Version 3.1.

    I thought that if I can only tell WP that we have actually installed the new version, I would get into my real dashboard and do some work, but even after it now acknowledges the new install (V 4.6.1), I still get an empty dashboard….

    Am I going mad??

    1. Hi there, can you please check your .htaccess file, and tell us what is inside?

    2. Add in wp.config.php the following two lines of code.

    define('WP_HOME',' https://telesoft.no/website');
    define('WP_SITEURL',' https://telesoft.no/website');

    3. Is this an empty WordPress installation? Because if so, you could try to install again WordPress.
