    Hello.

I have tried to make the plugin work with my site, but I can’t seem to make it work. I’ve tried different things, but it doesn’t show up.

Whenever I create a FAQ and a category, it won’t work together. The post on the page is just blank.

I just want to create categories, questions and then answers – very simple. ??

I’m using the theme Travelify and the website is https://www.movingto.dk

    All the best, Oliver

  • Hi Oliver,

While I may not have the answer, I have been learning a lot about uFAQ. Is there a specific page or post you could refer us to see if I can help? One thing that’s quite easy to do is to have a space after opening bracket and before the closing bracket. If you copy and paste their short code as I did from their documentation page, you’ll notice that the shortcodes have spaces after the opening bracket and before the closing bracket. Probably so that it’s easier for us to read.

Make sure you’re in Text mode on your page or post when you insert the shortcode and try removing the spaces, if you happened to have copied and pasted the shortcode like I did.

    It should look like this:
    [ultimate-faqs include_category=’dairy’]

    Not like this:
    [ ultimate-faqs include_category=’dairy’ ]

Obviously swap out the word “dairy” with your category slug name.

    Hopefully that’s the problem.

    Hello Webauthor.
I have just created a page called Frequently Asked Questions, but I haven’t published it yet. I don’t think that page reacts any different than others, so what did you have in mind? Just a random post or page?

I have made sure that there are no brackets and it looks like this:
    [ultimate-faqs include_category=’activities’]

    The post is just blank.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Oliver,

I know it would be a lot easier for a Ultimate FAQ dev to see the page or post in question. Go ahead an publish it (not draft) and paste the link here. I’m sure a support team member will be able to help you. More than likely it’s a really easy fix. 9 out of 10 times problems like the one you’re having is due to an incompatible plugin. Try disabling all your other plugins one at time to find the culprit it in fact that’s the issue.

On a separate matter however, the rule of thumb is that if you are using WordPress, if you want to give yourself the best odds of getting found on Google predominantly, if you want the best compatibility with most popular WordPress plugins – then you do NOT use any other theme other than one developed by StudioPress.com. Period! Trust om on this.

Thank you very much for your help and input @webauthor, it is super appreciated!

    Hi Oliver,

Are you placing that shortcode on an actual page (i.e. not a post, but a page that you created in the WordPress “Pages” section)?

If so, then our next question would be: Is “activities” the exact slug of one of your categories? And do you have FAQs assigned to this Activities category?

What happens if you try putting just the [ultimate-faqs] shortcode on a page, with no include_category attribute?

    Hello Webauthor.

I know for sure that it’s a minor problem and that’s why I’m so frustrated about it. I have probably stared at the problem for too long, so I can’t see the forest for the trees.

What do you mean about the theme developed by studiepress.com? We started using travelify two years ago and it was our very first wordpress site. We used travelify because we liked the design and to get started. Please enlighten me.

    Hello EtoileWebDesign.

I have placed the shortcode on the page and I have tried to upload photos to this answer, but I can’t. I would like to show it to you.

But when that is said nothing happens. There is no change on the page even if I go just with the [ultimate-faqs]. It’s like it doesn’t register it and the page is blank. Yesterday, there was a box on the blank page in a slightly different white colour, but with no text.

It’s very weird and I expected the whole process to be very easy, but I must have missed something.

    Hello again EtoileWebDesign.

When I create a category it comes up with this:
    [ultimate-faqs include_category=’climate’]

When I create a new faq it comes up with this:
    [select-faq faq_id=’5101′]

And nothing happens, when I post it on the page, in any of them..

    Hi Oliver,

For uploading screenshots: you can use a free image hosting website, such as https://postimage.org/, and provide us with the direct links.

Also, would it be possible to publish the page (if you haven’t already) and send us the URL? Seeing the page itself, will allow us to check if there’s any possible Javascript issues that may be interfering with the UFAQ shortcode.

    Hello EtoileWebDesign.

I think I cracked the code earlier today. All I had to do was publish the FAQ’s instead of pending them and it sort of worked itself out!

Thank you so much for the help and patience!

    All the best,
    Oliver

    Hi Oliver,

No problem and thanks for letting us know how you fixed it! ??

That was the least I could do.

I think some people who are not that familiar with WordPress would appreciate that you had it written somewhere. You have helped me a great deal, but I think it could safe you and other people some time.

    Just a thought.

All the best, and thanks for the great plugin.

    Hi Oliver,

Thank you for the suggestion. We’ll see if we can add that into our documentation.

    Best regards
