Sticking to One Theme

  • Hello. I thought WordPress has a function that could force visitors to stick to the theme that the webmaster chooses. Now, I remember. I think that function is for phpBB. Anyway, it seems to me that classical comment spammers use a theme other than the one that the blog owner chooses to post comments manually. Can they do that? It seems that some visitors are using the default theme to access our blog. If that’s the case, is there a solution to making them stick to the one that the blog owner chooses?

  • Spammers don’t have anything to do with themes. I think.
    Get some anti-spam plugins and you can use whatever theme you want…

    The bottom line is that some people, who are not necessarily spammers, are using the default theme, not the one that I have set. I didn’t notice this possibility and always wondered how they managed to post comments regardless of the trap that I set up on our main theme.

    How can you tell which theme visitors are using?

    Unless these folks have somehow managed to increase their user levels to a point where they can change the theme within the backend, I don’t see how this is possible.

    Is this maybe trackback comments?

    I dont think it is possible for the hackers to change your theme.

    they might submit their comments directly to wp-comments-post.php which is on the root directory of your blog.

    try renaming it to something else, and make sure the comments.php in your theme folder to post it to the one you renamed.
