“Still a sitemap in your directory”

I’ve deleted the sitemap file from my directory multiple times but it keeps getting regenerated. I’ve also used the plugin to delete it automatically, but to no avail. I then get this error:

“There is still a sitemap.xml or sitemap.xml.gz file in your site directory.”
