• I have the exact problem someone asked about 9 years ago, it still seems to persist:

One of the strings to translate is ‘% comments’, but I’m still not allowed to translate it to ‘% kommentit’ (into Finnish) -> POEdit says:

Error: ‘mgstr’ is not a valid PHP format string, unlike ‘msgid’. Reason: In the directive number 1, the character ‘k’ is not a valid conversion specifier.

I guess POEdit is mis-parsing that dollar sign somehow. Any way to work over this?

  • I have no idea about translation things, to be very honest. Old wiki link given on that old post will not work.
It appears your things are related to development. https://make.www.ads-software.com/polyglots/ is the current home for Translation of WordPress and other associated things. Do not ask question there, there might be some dev guide or existing thread / discussion.
