• I have no idea where the other reviews are getting their results from (if they are even genuine reviews).

It still lets referral spam through even after added to the blacklist. So many examples but a specific one is 9-reasons-for-seo.com which was already entered into the blacklist manually. Otherwise I’m not even sure what kind of blacklist it is accessing because I was getting TONS of referral spam with the plugin active and I had to enter referral URLs manually.

  • Same here, that one and 9-best-seo.com. So frustrating!

I’m wondering is the plugin supposed to be adding the spam referral domains to the htaccess file? There is nothing in my htaccess file to block these domain.

    Hey guys,

First of all, sorry to hear that it doesn’t work for you.

Secondly, thank you for the review. Both were important feedback to me.

Main blacklist is from here: https://github.com/matomo-org/referrer-spam-blacklist but it’s proxied via separate server to cache the file and remove github from the equation.

This plugin doesn’t use .htaccess file, it does the check on the fly when the website is opened.

I understand the frustration, however when I was testing the plugin I noticed that some services were able to pass the check somehow, unfortunately I could not find out why. If I’ll success in fixing it, I will let you know.

    Many thanks,
    K
