Still No Support for 280

  • My tweets are being truncated, and they’re well within the 280. I chose not to add my link or username to the tweet, it was still 7 characters shy of 280, and it’s truncated. I have the latest versions of WP and the plugin.

    Can you send along a link to the site in question for me to check out?

    Also, know that Twitter’s new length for tweets is dynamically generated based on the characters used, so it’s not a strict 280 in the same way that it was a strict 140.

    So it may end up that you have to leave some extra room.

    But I am more than happy to look into this. Here’s what I would recommend: create a new page with some test BCTT boxes on them. Label them like this:

    (274 characters= “paste the full text”)
    [bctt tweet=”paste the full text” via=”no” url=”no”]

    I’ll run some tests locally to see what I can do!
