To fix the php bug and keep using Nextge I installed php 7.2.

Taken from the nextgen site details screen “Versión de PHP : 7.2.0RC6”.

But still i’m, having the 500 internal error message acrros my site.

I had to roll back to php 5.6 again.

    The error log reports:

[01-Dec-2017 14:18:20 UTC] PHP Warning: count(): Parameter must be an array or an object that implements Countable in /home/elespiri/public_html/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/fs/package.module.fs.php on line 263

  • i tested and have the same problem

Is it possible to push another plugin update to add PHP 7.2.0RC6? Would much rather deal with a shortcode in the page than have to mess around in MultiPHP Manager for my various sites. I know it just came out yesterday, but hopefully, the Cpanel team will package 7.2.0 soon

Hello people. I cannot downgrade PHP version. So, there is no previous version of this plugin being compatible with PHP 7?

Hey all – As far as we know, and from our own testing, the fix for the original bug was including in 7.2.0.

@carlos-revilla – the PHP warning you note is something we saw as well, and is newly introduced with PHP 7.2.0. It’s something we’ll fix in an upcoming release. But that warning would never produce the broader symptoms you are seeing (500 error across site). I’ll be honest and say it’s not immediate obvious what would be causing that 500 error – it’s not the same bug, which was fixed; and it’s not something we’re duplicating. We’ll need to do more assessment to figure out what’s going on. We’ll have a dev looking at it today.

@karpin – “i tested and have the same problem” – can you clarify, are you seeing the PHP warning, the 500 errors, or both?

    @aeternal – We’ll look into it.

@kent-brockman – First, I want to be clear, the issue here is not with our plugin. It is a bug in specific PHP versions. There are only two versions we know have the bug: 7.0.26, and 7.1.12. If you use any other 7.0.x or 7.1.x version of PHP, you should be fine. Our tests of of 7.2.0 are also fine, though obviously some users in this thread seem to be seeing something different.

I tested with php 7.2 and i see (500 error across site)

@carlos-revilla – I just noticed you are using 7.2.0RC6. That RC6 still has the bug. You need the full 7.2.0 release that was released yesterday.

@karpin – can you confirm if you are using 7.2.0RC6 as well?

i don’t know. i have instaled in cpanel de 7.2 version but i can’t confirm if is the 7.2.0RC6

@karpin – Can you check via the phpinfo() function to see what version you are using?

Here is a link to a file you can upload to your root directory then visit with your browser to see what information is being rendered by the phpinfo() function: https://cloudup.com/c5PTkCRwjQw

    Thanks!

Hard to beleive that even with Release Candidate # 6 the bug is still there.

Also, the warning should be fixed ASAP, the error log size goes up the roof by the hour.

@carlos-revilla – We have another (internal) release of NextGEN Gallery that will also take into account the RC6 version as well; it is not being published as our recommendation is to roll back to an older version of the PHP 7.0.x or 7.1.x branches or (as a temporary measure) the last release of the PHP 5.6.x branch.

We are continuing to monitor this issue and do not want to flood the repository with numerous releases of our plugin as each RC and related versions are accounted for.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

We have a NextGEN gallery on our homepage which went down with 500 errors two days ago. Our host upgraded us to PHP 7.2 last night and while there are no more 500 errors, the gallery is still not loading. There is a place-holder with “Gallery cannot load”. I am not sure if this is a PHP 7.2 compatibility issue or not.

I too have just updated to PHP7.2.0RC6and get site wide error 500. WP_admin works for a while then succumbs too.
The error log shows thousands of lines of this:

[03-Dec-2017 19:07:45 UTC] PHP Warning: count(): Parameter must be an array or an object that implements Countable in /home/carnethy/public_html/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/fs/package.module.fs.php on line 263

    If that helps troubleshoot it.

Uploaded 2.2.17 but it simply reported that it wouldn’t load as I was running php7.2

Also, only using EasyApache4, how do you get the ‘PHP 7.2 stable RELEASE version’ that you mention?

Running PHP 7.2 stable release and version 2.2.17 is totally not working. Crashing entire site. Reverting to older PHP versions results with warning and Gallery not loading.

@aigar – Can you confirm, with certainty, that you are running the 7.2 release version and not 7.2RC6? So far our tests on 7.2 have been fine, and everyone else above who has said they are running 7.2 was, as far as we can tell, actually running 7.2 RC6.

@digbymaass – in your case, your issues are still certainly due to the fact that the PHP bug continues to existing on PHP 7.2 RC6, so that won’t resolve thing.

@edanzer I think I can confirm that, unless PHP info is hiding something
