Still problems with php 7.2

    To fix the php bug and keep using Nextge I installed php 7.2.

    Taken from the nextgen site details screen “Versión de PHP : 7.2.0RC6”.

    But still i’m, having the 500 internal error message acrros my site.

    I had to roll back to php 5.6 again.

    The error log reports:

    [01-Dec-2017 14:18:20 UTC] PHP Warning: count(): Parameter must be an array or an object that implements Countable in /home/elespiri/public_html/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/fs/package.module.fs.php on line 263

    Is that not working, or are you having some other issue?

    @edanzer Of course it’s working, since I had to switch back to PHP 5.6.32, but it’s not acceptable, since it’s too slow. But I can’t switch to 7.2 because then NexrGEN will crash the site.

    Ok, thanks for the explanation. It wasn’t clear that you’d rolled back.

    We’re looking at this now. For us, 7.2.0 is working and we have not been able to duplicate any issues in the 7.2.0 release version. So we’ll need to see if we can do so, before we can try to fix it.

    Hey all – just wanted to post an update here. While the main original PHP bug was fixed in 7.2.0, there is a separate, secondary bug in PHP 7.2.0 that triggers similar symptoms. We’ve got a dev working all day, every day trying to pin down the bug, but we’re having to troubleshoot PHP itself and it’s not proving simple to find.

    Once we find it, we’ll report the bug so they can patch it on their side, and that patch would then be included in PHP’s next release. Once we find the bug, we’ll also try to implement a work around for our side. If we can do that, we’ll push a release on our side immediately.

    For now, neither us nor PHP has been able to identify the bug, so we’re still diagnosing. We’ll keep you updated.

    With PHP 7.2

    Seems like it’s been a couple of days now and not much progress here.
    Please could we have an update?

    Hey all – We’ve been working on this and finally have a work around for the PHP bug.

    The following copy of NextGEN 2.2.20 should run with any version of PHP (including the bugged versions: 7.0.26, 7.1.12, 7.2RC6, and 7.2.0). Feel free to give it a try and let us know if you have issues.

    I just tested with NGG 2.20 with 7.0.26 and 7.1.12 and everything seems to be just fine. No errors and no warnings either.

    I beleive we have a winner!

    Hello guys, tested here too. I can now confirm NGG 2.20 works well with PHP 7.1.12, 7.0.26, 5.6.32, 5.5.38, and 5.4.45. Thanks for it.

    If you know of other WP plugins being allegedly effected by the PHP bug, can you name a couple so I can try their fixes?
