After testing your plugin we have found that wordpress is still sending an email of activation to members that register.

I’ve checked that I want to moderate new users.
Is there a setting that I am missing?

You still would be moderating the users, but they need to have a user created and activated inside of WordPress. That way we can accurately flag them as moderated.

They would still be able to say, go leave a comment on a blog post using their user. However, going to BuddyPress based areas or bbPress areas would be restricted on various levels based on your chosen settings.

ok I u think I understand – so they can create a profile automatically through wordress or buddypress but I can only moderate those areas not moderate membership?

Correct. The plugin either won’t let them interact, but will let them view, the BuddyPress/bbPress areas. We hide UI and abilities to post content or reply, etc. OR if a private network, they are forced into just their own user profile area until approved. They can’t even view anything else yet for BuddyPress/bbPress. Regular site content like the WP blog, or your WooCommerce section would still be accessible to them, logged in.
