Still slow after update

Updated to the latest version and gallery pages still load slowly. Very slowly. I suspect the mega number of images loaded in the galleries and the fact that there are several on the page are attributing, but would love to know that I could adjust a setting or something and have it cooperate better! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Additionally, should the galleries need to be smaller/broken up, is there an easy way to separate out the galleries on the page into their own without having to start over?
