Still the best SEO plugin

The not so secret, secret weapon for WordPress SEO. It’s been a brilliant plugin for a number of years. It hasn’t been dabbled with too much as the simple ‘traffic light’ functionality was right already.

Minor, minor gripes: The focus keyword field, the lynchpin of building SEO scores in a post has been ‘hidden’ in a recent release. Part of the success of this plugin was the obvious ease of adding this word/phrase. It isn’t immediately clear this is now a click to expand tab. It’s unnecessary fuss and numerous clients have called me to ask where it has gone. Also, the sitemaps are now hidden, completely obscured. I thought the feature had been removed completely and had been using a separate sitemap plugin for the past few months. An accidental discovery found them hidden in a ? icon, which makes little intuitive or logical sense.

The plugin’s overall brilliance make these UI niggles easier to live with.
