Still working perfectly for WP 4.0 multisite

    I had wasted a whole afternoon in trying to make auto update working with a multisite installation on AWS EC2 in VPC. Followed WordPress documentation which didn’t work. Also contacted AWS support but they said they don’t officially support WordPress (so disappointing).

    Finally found this plugin and installed it. With some configurations as found in this great post I am able to get auto update working for both WordPress itself and plugins.

    Why the WordPress team doesn’t consider including this plugin in the core?? Really thanks terrafrost!
