Hi There – OMG its taken me a hour just to work out how to post on this forum – please forgive me I’m dyslexic and not that techie – I’m doing my best – i would really really appreciate some help here …..Im using woo commerce plug in – I’m setting the stock level – but when it has sold out – it just keeps selling and the stock level is not affected by a sale

for example on my site i created a test product and set the stock at 3 – i actually purchased 3 – and then i could still go on and buy more the stock level didn’t do anything, i would really like to say out of stock after all the stock has been purchased – is this possible – or should the stock levels be manually changes after every purchase (this seems like a lot of admin) – please help

  • On the product edit page, Product Data section, Inventory tab, make sure that the “Allow back-orders?” is set to “Do not allow”.

WooCommerce can be set to manage stock levels automatically.

Thank you for the advise but i had already set the “do not allow back orders”

Ive been purchasing things all morning off my own site to try to get it to work – i cant find the problem –

It could be something to do with the payment method. With some payment methods the stock doesn’t go down until payment has been completed, especially if the payment method is not fully configured. What payment method are you using? Payment by cheque affects stock levels for me.
