Having issues with stock management of inventory. I have “Manage Stock” selected along with “Hide out of stock items”. 95% of our products are one-off, so almost all of our products are set to an inventory of 1 when created. When someone purchases the product, the item remains “In Stock” even though the Qty is now 0. The product remains visible in the storefront but the customer will receive an error if they attempt to purchase the product.

Is there anything I need to select/unselect so that the product will switch to “Out of Stock” when the Qty reaches 0? I have “Allow Backorders?” switched to “Do Not Allow” so I don’t think that is an issue.

I have a few products that do not have the “Manage Stock” selected because there is not a need to monitor inventory specifically. Could this be causing issues?

  • Hi there

WooCommerce should be changing the stock status when the stock hits 0. Something must be interferring with this process.

Typically issues like this are caused by either a conflict with your theme or with another plugin. How we usually address this type of issue is to have you temporarily switch back to the WordPress Twenty Seventeen Theme, or Storefront, and disable all plugins except for WooCommerce. Then do a test order and see if the stock status correctly changes. If that resolves the issue, then slowly re-enable features until you find the one that’s causing the conflict.

    Hope that helps!

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved. If you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
