I’m trying to show what products I have in stock, and what products I do not have in stock, (to my customers, on the website – I can see stock on the back end, but the customer is unable to see which variants are actually available – it just shows all of them). This leads the customer to have to guess which of what variations I have in stock for them.
Currently, every variation of every product is enabling “Manage Stock” in the Variants section. I have added stock to the variants of which I actually have stock, and the rest are marked with a “0” for no stock. I’ve also gone into the WooCommerce Settings, Products Tab, Inventory tab and I have checked “Hide out of stock items from the catalog” box. But with this, it appears that the entire product does in fact disappear, and people can’t even see my full product lines (which I want them to see). On the website, only 1 product (out of many) are showing the options of the variant that are available (and my other products & variants appear to have the same settings).
Ideally, if there’s a way the menu can show the variants, but also show “sold out” that would be great. I’m not too sure if WooCommerce can do that, however. I see there’s extra plugins that can do this, but they cost money, and unfortunately I’m a small business, with this website in its infancy, and my teachers salary (as well as a starting small business) can’t afford all these extra charges at the moment.
Any help on my potential customers being able to actually see what is available and giving them the ability to quickly shop would be so helpful. Instead they see every option (available or not), they have to select what they want, only to then see “out of stock”. I don’t want to lose customers to frustration of figuring out what is actually available. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hello,

I’m not sure which section “the Menu” is referring to. I’ve checked the product page and it looks like the stock level is showing properly – https://snipboard.io/O2kWtq.jpg

If you are referring to something else, could you give us more detail? If easier, you can send us screenshots too. I recommend?https://snipboard.io?for easily sharing screenshots – please follow the instructions on the page, then paste the URL in this chat. It works with Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

Hi! Thank you for your response. “The menu” is referring to each drop down section (“Size” “Container” & “Scent”) – so technically I should have said menus. The problem is that I have a lot of variants (2 different types of containers, up to 4 different sizes, and up to 20 different scents), so out of 20 possible scent options, a customer would potentially have to click the size, container and scent 60+ times to see which variant might be available for purchase (so if I only have 1 scent, in 1 size, in 1 container, they would have to make a lot of attempts to find which one I have in stock). Currently they have to click all 3 menus to find out if something is in stock or not.

If a customer knows what scent they want, it would be better that they can see if that scent is even in stock once they click on the “Scent” menu (same with the size and the container). On the front end, I’m hoping the Size, Scent and Container can grey out what is not available (and update what is available based on their current menu selection). Here’s an example of what I’m looking for in terms of the sold out status on the menu https://snipboard.io/DhYwm6.jpg

If someone knows what size they want, is there a way that the other menus can instantly update the available options, (within the drop down) based on each variant the customer specifies?

Thank you again for your time and help in this matter!

    Hi @loggersdaughter406

Thank you for the clarification. I understand you are looking for conditional logic. Core WooCommerce doesn’t have the ability to conditionally display variations based on customer’s previous choice. You’d have to use a plugin like the one you found (https://pluginrepublic.com/wordpress-plugins/woocommerce-better-variations/) to achieve your requirement.

Okay, thank you for clarifying. Do you know if there is any other plugin that can perform the conditional logic that doesn’t cost money?

    Hello,

I’m not aware of any free plugins that does the job. But feel free to look as there might be one I’ve missed ??
