Stocks are not updating in widget

    Hi Aleksander! Thanks for your plugin. I’m using your free 5 stocks version. I followed your instructions from over a year ago to download the work-around file from Github and upload to server – double checking your instructions as I proceeded. I’m afraid to say that hasn’t helped. I’ve tried to Fetch data and save again. No success.

    Hello @jillapollo,

    I see that stocks are last time updated 4 days ago. Please let me know:

    1. do you use some caching plugin and which one?
    2. what’s happening when you do Fetch Stock Data Now! in plugin settings? Can you provide a screenshot of fetching log?

    Hi Aleksandar,

    I do not have any caching running and have Endurance Cache OFF under General Settings.

    I’m attaching a link to a screenshot of the Fetch log.

    Hi @jillapollo,

    Regarding the current state on your website, it looks like stock prices now updating. Values in your stock ticker are equal to values directly pulled from AlphaVantage.co API.

    Thank you Aleksandar,

    Maybe I’m doing something wrong…but if I open the page and make a note of the stock prices and then come back to that page in 30 minutes (and refresh the page), the stock info is still the same. Help!

    Hi @jillapollo,

    Stock Ticker download stock data for a single symbol per page load. If you do not have at least 5 visits within the timeframe that you have set for “Cache Timeout” plugin option, then there is no chance to refresh all five stock symbols that you have set in stock ticker.

    Please let me know what you have set for Cache Timeout in Stock Ticker plugin settings, and how many visits to the site you have daily (you can check this in Google Analytics).

    You can test this by:

    1. Visit your website during the active stock exchange trade time and check stock data and dates for each of five symbols.
    2. Then manually refresh the page five times. Make pause ~20 seconds between the refreshes.
    3. If you check stock data and dates after that, you’ll see that all is updated in stock ticker (stock data and dates).

    The site doesn’t get many visits daily – ranges from 12 – 50. Cache Timeout is now set to 550. (I’ve been messing around with that occassionally.)

    I’m thinking the low visits is causing the issue.

    Since my site has very low traffic, is there a way to optimize the settings so that the five stocks will update automatically when AlphaVantage updates their information (every 15 minutes)?
