Stop Custom Fields being added to pages in WordPress 3

  • I have a number of custom post types each adding custom fields for use with that specific post type.

    While they stay local to the post type. They all get added to every page that’s created. So when pages are edited, there’s a long list of irrelevant custom fields on the admin page pushing other content down.

    How can I stop custom fields from being added to every page?
    Can I suppress the custom field field box on the wp-admin page for new pages?
