Stop Elementor from removing html code?

In a Text Editor box, via the Text tab, I enter:

<span style=”font-size: 25px; color: #ffffff;”>
Contents:
</span>
<br>
<span style=”font-size: 20px; color: #ffffff;”>
– Line 1
<br>
– Line 2
</span>`

Later I see:

<span style=”font-size: 25px; color: #ffffff;”>
Contents:
</span>

<span style=”font-size: 20px; color: #ffffff;”>
– Line 1

– Line 2
</span>`

The <br> has been removed.

Elementor has worked fine in the past. The latest version is modifying my html code. How do I fix this?
