Stop images from auto attach

Whenever I create a post and use the add media button to insert images in it, the image automatically attaches to the post making it appear twice in the post first before all the text, and second where i originally inserted. To remove images from appearing before the texts, I have to manually detach images from a post in the media library. Is there a work around this? Can i stop images from auto attaching themselves? Thank you.
