Are the emails from www.ads-software.com or contactform7.com?

You might be getting emails that there are updates available to the plugin from the developers site. www.ads-software.com would not be emailing you unless you were subscribed to the forum.

Also, make sure that the emails you are getting are not from the contact form(s) on your site. Contact form 7 does send emails when the forms are filled out.

thanks for your suggestion!

it is my understanding these emails come from the native wordpress system, or the buddypress / bbpress add-ons to it.

We do not use any specific plugin’s for this purpose of notifications (thus the list of the configuration above).

This issue started immediately after the wordpress v4.6 upgrade, so it would seem logical it is connected to it?

Else I would not have posted it here, I am sure the core developers have their hands full.
