  • I would suggest you don’t install it. I’s only function is to display your spammer stats in the sidebar.

I am removing it from the stop spammer plugin in the next release.

    Keith

I updated the plugin manually, the widget stays at the previous version in the dashboard. What will happen if I remove the old version from the plugins menu (disable->delete)? Or should I rather wait for the next release?

    Hello Peoples,

Do not try to uninstall just the widget!

It will uninstall the entire plug-in.

We have to wait for Keith to remove the widget in a future release ??

With thanks to Keith for a sophisticated & very effective plug-in.

Version 5.7 fixes the widget bug. Please check.

Indeed it does, I have the widget running on both my sites.

I apologise for not seeing that spam comments are automatically submitted to StopForumSpam…

Thank you again, please enjoy life as you can, respects,

Unfortunately for me someone has now figured out how to automate whitelist requests. I had to disable the plugin entirely.

This has been a really great tool that protects Websites. I think it handles the load very capably in most instances.

However, as I have been relying on my firewalls to block the botnets more and more I have noticed less need for the Stop Spammers plugin and other anti-spam plugins.

I will see if I can get by without it. If not, I’ll reactivate it and update at a later time.

Thanks for all the hard work. This plugin has saved me a LOT of time since I started using it.

    sffandom,

I think that some spam bots fill in any form that they find. I get several thousand spam hits a day but only a couple of white list requests a week. You must have been hit by an more aggressive spam bot.

I, as the plugin author, agree. This plugin is far too much trouble to maintain. I think that I’ll be giving up on it soon.

    sffandom,

If the sf is Science Fiction you might want to check my personal site:
    https://www.cthreepo.com

there is a sub blog there that would be interesting to fans:
    https://www.cthreepo.com/birthdays/

The birthday blog was created with my “Instant Content” plugin.

Interesting. But the plugin page says you haven’t updated it in 2 years. Is it still compatible with the 3.8.1 dashboard?

ON EDIT: I installed the plugin on a test site. I think I’ll play with it.

I wrote it for myself and nobody else was interested. It works by creating a directory fill of files and zipping it. Upload it to the website and then when you run the plugin each file becomes a page or post. You can control the dates so it loads one post per day, etc. The first line of a file is the page title.

It is very convenient if you have an achive and wish to upload it as wordpress pages.

I use a custom version that used the birthday in the file to post the page as the author’s date of birth.

I went over to your CThreepo site & enjoyed myself a lot. Agree with you on Avatar & after reading reviews of Gravity I will not be watching that neither ??

Still unable to report spammers from inside spam comments to sfs, still get ‘0’ from the Ajax handler… not to worry, tks for all the hard work.
