I understand that in the image filename spaces are replaced with dashes, this is not a problem, but can I please ask how I stop this impacting the ALT & TITLE TEXT / DESCRIPTION field, I want the original filename in the ALT & TITLE TEXT / DESCRIPTION field not the new uploaded filename that has dashes in.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi @iwaddo,

Unfortunately, this behavior can’t be changed, perhaps only if trying to use the “Import Folder” images upload method.

If I add images to the gallery by importing them from a folder on the server the hyphens still appear in the filename and the Alt & Title Text.

Why would anyone want to see the filenames with added hyphens when hovering over an image displayed on a website.

Is there anyway to work around this problem other than manually editing the Alt & Title Text?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi @iwaddo,

Unfortunately, we don’t have any workarounds for it at this time besides manually changing them.

    OK, that is disappointing.

I will look to see if I can replace the ‘-‘ with ‘ ‘ directly in the database.

Hopefully, I will not break the database.

    Thank you for your help.

Interestingly I have noticed that the Alt Text only contains the filename when certain of the exif fields are not present, the import routines seems to favour Title or Image Description from the Exif data for the Alt Text and only uses the filename, with all its hyphens, when no exif data is present.

It would be great to have these rules confirmed, are we able to understand the complete logic the import is using?

    Thank you for your help.
