Like everyone else I’m having problems with Yoast right now. Actually my site seems to be working OK, but I’m getting hourly emails from WordPress telling me it might be broken. I’ve had more than 25 in the last day!
I’ve disabled the plugin for now but am still getting emails. How do I make them stop! And does anyone have any idea when this issue is going to get fixed? Thanks!

  • It sounds like emails WordPress itself is sending because something is going wrong on your site.

If there is a clear error/message in the email that you’d be willing to share, please do so here so we can help you find the problem.

I’m guessing they were the “Your Site is Experiencing a Technical Issue” email notifications, which I was also getting for one site with the database permissions error displayed in the Dashboard. After I fully removed the plugin from the installation, logged out and back in, then reinstalled/reactivated Yoast SEO and then logged out and in one more time, I was finally presented with the “indexation” option and the database error disappeared and the emails stopped.

    Hi, here’s the email

    Hi!

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, Yoast SEO.

First, visit your website (https://www.passportandpixels.com/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://www.passportandpixels.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php) and check for any visible issues.

Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

If your site appears broken and you can’t access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special “recovery mode”. This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. Don’t worry about that, though: a new link will be emailed to you if the error occurs again after it expires.

When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
    WordPress version 5.4
    Current theme: Sitka (version 1.2.1)
Current plugin: Yoast SEO (version 14.0.2)
    PHP version 7.0.33

If I delete the plugin entirely, will I lose anything important? I’m a total novice at all this stuff…

    Hi @passportandpixels,

I’m very sorry to hear about all the error messages you are getting. I see you were on 14.0.2 a the time. Did you already update to 14.0.4 by any chance? And if so, did that solve the issue?

Also, to answer your questions. The settings of Yoast SEO should be saved in the database and when you reinstall the plugin the settings will be reinstated as they were.
