I’ve created a new database to push the staging site (clone of my main site) to my main site. However, the data only appears up till a certain date and not beyond.

I’ve tried reinstalling/resetting the plugin so far. On Google Analytics, in Data Streams, I get this message “Data collection isn’t active for your website. If you installed tags more than 48 hours ago, make sure they are set up correctly.”

    Hi @hyperbrid,

Thanks for reaching out. If you’d like to share your Site Health information for the live site I can check your set up and confirm whether Analytics is tracking on the live site.

Note also that if you’ve just connected a new Analytics property, or if your Analytics snippet isn’t firing, the message you’re encountering, which appears within the Analytics platform is normal and expected. Once we have your Site Health information we can investigate this further.

Many thanks for sharing your Site Health information @hyperbrid. I’ve checked your site based on this and I don’t see any Analytics snippet placed, despite your Site Health information stating otherwise. I also don’t see any Analytics tracking when using the tagassistant.google.com service.

In order to investigate this further, can you disconnect the Analytics module and connect once more? After doing so please clear your cache using the Litespeed plugin and let me know once complete. I can then check your site once more. If the same occurs we can then troubleshooting your third party plugins,

I reconnected the module and cleared the cache.

Thanks for the update Unfortunately I still don’t see any Analytics snippet placed on your site. When checking tagassistant.google.com I also don’t see any trace of Analytics present.

So we can troubleshoot this further, please follow the steps below:

    1. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    2. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”. (This will temporarily deactivate other plugins and switch to a default theme – for you only, as a logged in user).
    3. Check your sites source code for an Analytics snippet, I suspect you won’t find a snippet placed
    4. From back in your Health Check plugin click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to Site Kit
    5. Check for an Analytics snippet once more, and let me know if you do see a valid snippet placed.

Let me know how you get on with the above. This can be useful to determine if another plugin, or your theme, is somehow resulting in the non placement of the Site Kit Analytics snippet.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

Can’t see the snippet code both ways.

Thanks for checking @hyperbrid. I also don’t see the snippet appearing on your site. If your site has been moved from staging I wonder did something not pass over as expected. To troubleshoot this further, please share the following:

    1. When you moved from staging to live, can you share how you did this? For example did you use a plugin, or did you move your WordPress files and edit the wp-config files.
    2. Can you share a recording of your current Site Kit Analytics settings, using a service such as Loom or RecordIt. You can share this recording privately using the same form previously used.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

I used WP Staging for the staging site, created a database backup using Duplicator – replaced the original site file with the former’s files, and then linked a new database to the Duplicator backup.

Thanks for the update. In that case I can’t be sure why Site Kit isn’t placing your Analytics snippet. From reviewing the latest recording which you kindly shared the snippet should be placed via Site Kit.

To troubleshoot this further, at host level do you have any features that makes a static version of your content? Alternatively, when you performed a check using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin, do you recall the theme being switch to a core WordPress theme when you checked for the snippet placed following the checks above?

Note that while not ideal, what you can do to ensure traffic is reporting, is manually place your Analytics snippet on our site. Site Kit can still report on manually placed snippets, as long as you connect the same property within the plugin (the same Analytics property inserted manually).

I’m not sure what you mean by making a static version of my content. Yes, the theme was switched to a core one.

Would Site Kit make a difference at all if I manually place the snippet?

@hyperbrid If you manually place the Analytics snippet then Site Kit will pick this up and should display the data as it normally would if it was placing the snippet itself.

As James mentions, once you manually place the snippet, go to Site Kit and ensure you connect to that property and that should then let you see your Analytics data for that property.

If possible, it would also be very helpful if you could share a recording of yourself using the Health Check and Troubleshooting plugin with all plugins off and theme switched. IN the recording could you show your sites source code in the browser to show the snippet not being placed?

I manually placed the snippet in the HTML widget of Elementor. That didn’t seem to make a difference.

@hyperbrid Thank you for confirming. Could you please share a recording of yourself using the Health Check and Troubleshooting plugin with all plugins off and theme switched. IN the recording could you show your sites source code in the browser to show the snippet not being placed?

This will help us to see exactly what is happening here. You can use a service such as Loom to record and share the video URL here.

I’ve submitted a form with the recording.

@hyperbrid Thanks for sharing. Can I check if you have since updated to the latest version of Site Kit (1.93.0)? Do you still encounter the same issue?

Could you also share the manual Analytics snippet you tried to place which wasn’t working for you?

    (@hyperbrid)

It’s at the end of the same video
