Stopping email notifications

I didn’t have a WP account until recently and I will get to that in a sec but basically the problem was I was set as an a moderator for a WP site so that I and several other writers could post articles for the site. The problem is that I get sent an email for every comment that has been posted on any of those articles and spambots have run rampant on it. I am getting email after email and there is no option to stop this as it’s not technically my WordPress account that I’m under. The person who is the administrator is no longer in contact with me and I cannot delete my account or stop notifications in any way. This is driving me crazy. I made a WP account today just so I could post in the forum. Please guys. If you could help me that would be great. This is a major flaw of WP that needs tpo be fixed immediately.
