• Both the standard Woocommerce paypal checkout gateway (without upgrade) broke my payment methods when my dreamhost server updated to php 7.3!

Also, i do not approve of Paypals data brokerage of 200 marketplaces and customer names, preferences, preferred purchases, and lists. Unethical big data white collar trickery

    Hi @mastertheweb,

PayPal Payments currently works with all PHP versions starting from PHP 7.1 (the minimum version will probably be increased at some point).
But changing the PHP version alone will not cause any issues with the PayPal Payments plugin and we have not received any other report that suggested otherwise.

The update notice you describe comes from the PayPal Checkout Gateway plugin as PayPal Payments is meant to replace it. You can find more information in the upgrade guide here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-paypal-payments/paypal-payments-upgrade-guide/

Also, I’d like to clarify that your title “stops working constantly with almost every wp update” is not true, as PayPal Payments has never encountered any issues that were related to a WordPress core update. I can’t speak for eventual plugin conflicts resulting from any updates, but we have not received any reports about a WordPress update potentially breaking PayPal Payments. PayPal Payments is being tested regularly with the latest stable WordPress and WooCommerce versions.
In any case, if you need assistance with getting the plugin up and running, then I suggest creating a support ticket with us instead and we will get back to you as soon as possible:

    Thanks!

    Kind regards,
    Niklas
