• I’m having the same cache issue that the users on this thread had.

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/store-cart-error-due-to-gtm-plugin/

“When the first product of a session is added to the cart, if the user then visits the cart within a 30-second window, the cart is shown as empty (though the cart widget says otherwise). If the user waits 30 seconds, the product appears in the cart.

This only happens on the very first product to go into the cart for that session. Any other products after that are fine.”

Switching out the GTM container fixed the error, and I tried the proposed solution in the above thread, creating a separate Google Analytics account/property but that didn’t solve the issue

You mean you replaced the container ID with GTM-XXXXX?
If that fixes the issue, you should pause each tag in your GTM container, re-add the container ID and then enable each tag one by one to see which tag causes this issue in your container.

Correct, switching out the container ID with GTM-XXXXX fixed the empty cart issue.

I’ll go through each tag seeing what caused the issue, thank you.

Any reason why the issue won’t replicate on my local server but exists when setting up the container on the live site? I’ve resolved all the errors in the console on the live site.

The issue was with the Universal Google Analytics Tag. After disabling it, everything (passing values to various marketing platforms using the datalayer) works great.

In trying to get Analytics back on the site I’ve done the following:

    1) I’ve created a new Analytics account + property and updated the Google Analytics Setting in tag manager and the issue persisted.

    2) Created a new GTM container, imported all tags using https://gtmspy.com/ and then readded the Universal Analytics Tag. Issue persisted.

    3) Added GA to WP through a separate plugin (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ga-google-analytics/ ). This resolved the issue although I’d like to have everything consolidated in GTM and frankly I’m damn curious what the cause of this issue is.

    Thanks for the help.

After further testing, the EEC events also lead to the empty cart issue in WooCommerce.

Thomas, any thoughts as to why when I add the Universal Analytics tag or any of the EEC Tags the empty cart issue occurs?

Right now I’ve set up Analytics through a separate plugin for the meanwhile, but I’m not getting EEC in that Analytics Property currently. Thanks in advance for the help.
