• Hi there,

I’ve got an issue with the store being partially translated.
Sections such as “Showing 1-12 of 15 results” is correctly translated to “Mostrando 1–12 de 15 resultados”
However simple things such as “Shop” and “Next” and “Filter by Price” remain in english.

I am using Espanol (Chile) which seems to be better than simply Espanol which I assumed would be the highest quality but didn’t result in any sections of the store being translated.

Could anyone assist with how to fix this?

    Thanks

  • Hi @tawanawi,

I am sorry to hear about the trouble, but thanks for reaching out.

After checking your shop page, it looks like these elements might be coming and modified from your theme rather than WooCommerce itself. If that’s the case, your theme should include the correct translation files (.po and .mo) for different languages so that the text updates automatically when you change your site language.

Alternatively, you can use Say What? plugin. This lets you modify or translate specific phrases without having to edit .po files manually. You can follow this guide to replace a text string.

Give that a try, and let me know how it goes!

    Hi there,

Thanks so much for the quick reply.
If I use Say What? to do a quick fix of the translation, will that create potential plug in conflicts when I use Loco Translate to then return the whole site to english?

    Thanks ??

    Hi @tawanawi,

I understand your concern. Using the Say What? plugin for a quick fix should not create conflicts with Loco Translate or any other plugin, as it works independently by overriding specific text strings on the front end.

However, if you decide to switch the site back to English using the Loco Translate plugin in the future, you may need to remove or adjust any overrides made with Say What? plugin to ensure everything displays correctly.

However, if you want a seamless or more permanent solution, you could also directly update translation files (.po and .mo) using Loco Translate plugin. That way, all translations are managed in one place, which might be easier to maintain in long run.

Let me know, if you have any further questions or need assistance!

    Hello tawanawi,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand your store is only partially translated. While some sections, like “Showing 1-12 of 15 results”, are correctly translated to “Mostrando 1–12 de 15 resultados”, other terms like “Shop,” “Next,” and “Filter by Price” remain in English.

Could you share a screenshot of the untranslated words? I’ll compare it with my test site and investigate further.

The Spanish (Chile) translation for WooCommerce is 98% complete. You can check the progress here:

Looking forward to your response. ??

Hey mate, yes I thought it was strange because the Chile version of Spanish would surely have such simple terms.

I’ve contacted the theme provider and they said they haven’t had any other issues with translation yet.

This is the screenshot. Let me know if that works.

In regards to the Say What option, I don’t think that will work because I need the site to be accurately functioning in both Spanish as its default and then with an English option.

    Hi there!

I have added the Filter by Price and Filter by Attributes widgets on my site, and I can see that the Filter by Attribute and Filter by Price text is added through the heading block. This is why it is not being translated.

Please note that text added via the heading block needs to be replaced manually with the Spanish text.

If you want to create a multilingual site, you will need to add the text in both languages—English and Spanish. The plugin you use to create a multilingual site will have an option to save that text in both languages.

    Regarding the “Next” button:

I have activated the Storefront theme and enabled pagination, and I can see that the “Next” button does not appear by default. This indicates that the button is being added by your theme. I suggest activating the Storefront theme, and you will see that its pagination does not contain a “Next” button, while the remaining text appears to be correctly translated into Spanish.

However, regarding the shop text, please ensure that you have set the shop page title and slug in Spanish. You can change the shop page title by going to:
All Pages → Hover over the Shop Page → Click on “Quick Edit” → Change the shop title.

Let me know how that goes
