    Hi,

    I’m new to all this but trying to create a StoreFront Child theme. My CSS file simply has the following:

    /*
    Theme Name: Storefront-child
    Theme URI: https://pubbss.com/storefront-child/
    Description: Storefront Child Theme
    Author: Mark Goldsmith
    Author URI: https://pubbss.com
    Template: storefront
    Version: 1.0.0
    License: GNU General Public License v2 or later
    License URI: https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html
    Tags: light, dark, two-columns, right-sidebar, responsive-layout, accessibility-ready
    Text Domain: storefront-child
    */

    Which I understood would take the orginal storefront CSS and load it. However, when I install this child theme a number of various formats change. Do I need to do something else to ensure that I am starting my child with all the attribute of it’s parent?

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hello Mark,

    Not sure what the changes are you mention. However, when you swap to a child theme any customisation you had previously made in the Customiser (in Dashboard, Appearance) will not carry over.

    Therefore you will need to make those changes again inside Customiser once your child theme has been activated.

    Hope that helps.

    What Drew said is true and most likely the cause of your ‘loss of formatting’. If not, please post with a little more information and we can investigate further.

    It’s also worth noting that Storefront core (the parent theme) automatically loads your child theme stylesheet so you should be able to add your custom css to that file straight away without any additional code.

    Thank you both. I will update the formating which I lost. There is another issue I noticed… .specially when I go to “Shop”…. the product name, description etc does not appear… only the picture and price appears. When I click on the product it does show the name and other detail – but I feel it is important to show in the shop page while on the Shop page.

    Any thoughts/guidance.

    I appreciate the help!

    Anyone have this issue, not have this issue or have a suggestion on how to resolve?

    Specifically, when I use a my storefront child theme, the product name, description etc does not appear when the user shops… only the picture and price appears. When I click on the product it does show the name and other detail. This is true for existing, modified and new products.

    Thanks!

    Hi Mark,

    I think I know what is going on.
    If this is your shop: https://pubbss.com/product/almonds-raw/

    the discription is there, but seems you have set the color of the text to the exact same green color as you background, so it looks like there is no discription. However if you draw your mouse over the region where your discription should be you can actually see it is there. Same goes for the actual shop page: https://pubbss.com/shop/

    Please check the color settings of your text and change it to white or black. ??

    I would advice at least in the header, to also choose another color, because the logo gets kind a lost there also ( it has green in it ) and on that green background not looking good?

    Duh! Thanks Annie – that was it! I hear you as well on the other colors… I’ll adjust them later.
